Strategic development plan for Faaborg
Port and city development plan with climate proofing
Winning proposal in parallel competition
Where should Faaborg’s major development projects, such as residential housing, be located? How can the old town centre connect with the new initiatives and the surrounding landscape, and how is the town and harbour protected against future floods?
Physical, social, cultural and economic cohesion
Volume studies, infrastructure, new residential housing, development of a cultural milieu worthy of preservation and a unique landscape, accessibility, mobility, climate adaption – three interdisciplinary teams have been working on these questions in a development course over 6 months. The common thread has been a physical, social, cultural and economic cohesion.
The development plan offers a holistic and realistic bid on how to make Faaborg even more attractive to the inhabitants and tourists as well as to the industry. The plan demonstrates how Faaborg can make use of its potentials in order to create new life and new growth in the best possible way.
Economic sustainability – stage divided urban development
The project has great focus on economic sustainability and with regular quality controls, we have assured that the new initiatives can be realised. Our final proposal features, among other things, a staged urban development plan. The ambition has been to create a robust foundation for future investments in Faaborg.
Organisation and staff
GBH has been full-service consultant together with Kjellander Sjöberg and Tyréns as sub-consultants, among others. Employees from GHB and Kjellander Sjöberg have been consistent throughout the entire process and have participated in the workshops in order to secure continuity in the development of the plans, peace to work and trust-based relations internally in the team as well as with the developer and the other participants in the parallel assignment. All three teams fully respected this, played their cards face up and acted trustingly throughout the whole process. Naturally, the staff matched the task just as they will do regarding the “Stadiongrunden” in Helsingør – i.e. we offer a team, who can take on the task concerning both the project and the process.
